About that photo of Chester City Hall

This no doubt will come as something of a startling notion to many readers, but we really do try to be accurate in our reporting every day.

Some days we're more successful than others.

In Tuesday's Daily Times, we presented a story on the sale of a building that at one time served as Chester City Hall. It detailed the sale and the developer's plans for the site.

There was nothing wrong with the story.

Unfortunately, we decided to take a picture of the building to run with the story. And, of course, we got the wrong building.

The caption indicated the old City Hall building had been purchased by a King of Prussia-based printer and technology company.

That certainly came as news to Kenneth Barrow. He happens to own the building that was in the picture, and he has not sold it to anyone.

Barrow's building did in fact also once serve as City Hall in Chester, but after the one that was sold.

Barrow's building, located at Fifth and Welsh, served as City Hall from the 1950s until 2006. That's when Barrow and his sister-in-law purchased it and renovated it into 11 luxury apartment suites. They have nine apartments and two office suites. There are currently no vacancies in their building.

The old City Hall that was purchased by Gregory Turlington's company is located at City Hall Place that served the city from the 1900s until the 1950s.

Not surprisingly, I got a call from Mr. Barrow early yesterday morning. He assured me he was quite surprised to know that he had sold his building. And to tell me he had already fielded a few phone calls from tenants wondering who the new owner was.

Obviously that is not the case.

We ran a correction in the paper today. But I wanted to try to explain what happened a bit more here. And to thank Barrow for being as understanding as he was.

It's the kind of mistake that should not happen, but sometimes does.

My apologies.
