Parking restrictions at Primos Station

One of the things that happens early every morning in our bustling little metropolis of beautiful downtown Primos is a rush by commuters to snag one of the prized parking spots alongside the R3 rail lines.

Cars line up early to get a free spot on Cottonwood Lane, which runs from Oak Avenue between the Wawa and the railroad tracks. Cars park on both sides, including the stone lining of the road directly beside the tracks.

Not this morning.

Commuters this morning are being greeted by a line of orange cones that block parking on the right-hand side of the road, next to the tracks.

This apparently was put in place overnight.

I'm not sure why, but I'm guessing it has something to do with the pope's visit to Philly.

Primos Station is one of the 18 stations being utilized by SEPTA on their regional rail lines.

At first SEPTA said they expected 10,000 people to descend on Primos to board trains next Saturday and Sunday for the pope visit.

Those numbers have since been drastically reduced. It turns out SEPTA has only sold about 3,400 of the special papal passes for Primos Station for both days combined.

Upper Darby even announced that they no longer planned to shut down Oak Avenue to traffic.

However, both Cottonwood and Mildred Avenue will be closed.

As for the orange cones this morning? We'll check into that later on.

But if you use the Primos Station, consider yourself warned. Parking will be at a premium today.

Hey, maybe I should rent out my spot in the Daily Times parking lot, which is just a few steps away.

What am I offered?
