I used my print column today to mark the passing of one of our own.
John M. Roman was many things, but he was one thing more than any other.
John was a newspaperman.
The Daily Times gathered Friday to say goodbye to one of our own.
John was a throwback, a reminder of what we were, and the good that newspapers can accomplish in their communities.
He will be missed by all of us, and also, I think, by readers.
That's because they threw away the mold of those kinds of newsmen. They just don't make them like John M. Roman anymore.
