That didn't take long: Suspect nabbed in Wawa charity jar heist

Count this as the least surprising news from yesterday.

That guy in the Phillies T-shirt who police say helped himself to a USO charity jar at the Glenolden Wawa is in custody. It didn't take long.

Police say they were flooded with tips on David Melanchuk shortly after the surveillance images went up on DelcoTimes.com and social media yesterday morning.

David Melanchuk, of Clifton Heights, now faces charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Would-be thieves might want to keep in mind just how pervasive video is in our lives.

And another thing, the video keeps getting better.

These shots of Melanchuk inside the Wawa were some of the most clear images we've received.

Police certainly are using this video more and more to help solve crimes.

We're glad to be able to post these images to get the word out about crimes.

You've been warned.
