It was just last week that the Prospect Park community turned out in force to honor Peggy Witmer on the occasion of her 99th birthday.
Peggy and her husband, Frank, founded the Prospect Park Termites youth football program. They team used to hold practices in the Witmers' back yard.
Even after Frank died several years ago, Peggy was still a familiar visitor to Termites and Interboro High games.
Peggy celebrated her 99th birthday on Friday, just a a day after being serenaded by 50 members and alums of the program her husband started.
Now Peggy and Frank are reunited.
Peggy Witmer died peacefully on Monday at her home.
