If the Eagles don't have Philly fans singing the blues today, there is this from the baseball world. Yes, Phillies fans, some places they are still playing baseball. They even get more than 10,000 at their games.
The Texas Rangers were eight games out of first place when they made the trade deadline deal for Phillies' ace left-hander Cole Hamels. He started his first game for Texas on Aug.1. He left the game with a three-run lead, but the Rangers fell to the Giants in 11 innings.
Alln the Rangers have done since then is win the last 10 games started by Hamels. Last night Hamels threw a complete game as the Rangers beat the Angels to win the AL West crown. From eight games out to a title in two months. Not bad.
Hamels went 7-1 with Texas and raised his overall record this season to 13-8.
He'll lead the Rangers into the playoffs, where he will be joined by some other former Phillies - Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins with the Dodgers, and Ben Revere with the Blue Jays.
And here in Philly.
Hey, how 'bout those Sixers!
Uh, never mind.
