All I can think of is that's it's a good thing this didn't happen last weekend. You might remember we had a certain visitor in the area. And while there were plenty of clouds accompanying Pope Francis on his historic two-day visit, the rain for the most part stayed away.
We're not going to be that lucky - or 'blessed - this weekend.
In other words, we're going to get wet. Real wet.
They're calling this a double-whammy. First we're supposed to get drenched. It's going to start as showers today, then pick up tomorrow when several inches of rain is expected.
And that's all before we have to deal with Hurricane Joaquin, which has now grown into a Category 3 hurricane, which gets it a "major" designation from the National Hurricane Center. Right now it's packing winds of up to 115 mph.
It's going to rumble up the East Coast during the weekend. What direction it takes then, and if and where it slams on shore, is the key question. Right now it looks like it could hit the Chesapeake Bay Monday night.
You know things are getting serious when sports teams start paying attention.
Today's Phillies-Mets series finale, which was originally scheduled for a 7:05 start, has been bumped up to noon.
The NFL says it is "mulling its options" in terms of the Eagles-Redskins game, which is set to kick off in Landover, Md., outside the nation's capital at 1:05 Sunday.
