There's always a Delco connection

It is something I am constantly preaching to my staff.

Every time there is a big national or international story, I always quip to them, "Don't worry, it will somehow work its way back to Delaware County."

It happened again this week.

Twice, actually.

Reporter Rose Quinn detailed the story of longtime Delco resident Ed 'Rusty' Allen. What are the odds that he would wind up living across the street from Umpqa Community College in Oregon, where a troubled young man went on a killing spree last week, killing nine and wounding nine others.

Then over the weekend we were monitoring the damage and fallout from Hurricane Joaquin. Several callers pointed out to us that the ship El Faro that went down in the storm off the Bahamas was built at the legendary Sun Ship yards in Chester.

Like I said, there's always a Delco connection.
