What will happen first - a Sixers win or Patriots loss?

Call it the winter of our discontent - and pay no attention to that 70-degree weather.

Trust me, winter is coming.

Of that I'm certain.

When will the Sixers will hit the win column? That's another matter.

Last night the 76ers put up a game effort before falling in Milwaukee to the Bucks. It was their fourth start defeat to kick off the season. Top draft pick Jahlil Okafor continues to play well, looking every bit the potential NBA rookie of the year. But this team doesn't have enough talent to seal the deal. Want proof? Yesterday they signed point guard Phil Pressey. He arrived just before the start of last night's game. With five minutes to go in a close, back-and-forth game, coach Brett Brown inserted him into the lineup. Yeah, it's going to be that kind of year. Again.

Yesterday I joked about the state of Delco politics, openly wondering what would happen first - the Eagles winning a Super Bowl or a Democrat getting elected to Delaware County Council.

Here's today's version. What do you think is more likely to happen first - the Sixers posting a win, or the Patriots losing a game. I wouldn't bet against New England.

In the meantime, if you haven't looked recently, the Flyers have lost five straight and are on that western Canada road trip that is akin to a trek across Siberia.

That brings us to Chip Kelly's crew. Coming off the bye week, the Eagles get another prime time national TV date against the hated Cowboys in Dallas.

Which means there will be a lot of bleary-eyed folks driving to work Monday morning.

Incredibly, the 3-4 Eagles are just one game out of the lead in the miserable NFC Least.

They would do Philly sports fans a huge favor by posting an impressive win. It would ease our wounded spirit to see Sam Bradford take control of this team and resemble the quarterback we thought we had last summer.

And if the Birds falter.

Well, at least we have the weather.

Of course, that's not likely to last either.
