Give Kathleen Kane this.
She has no intention of going down alone.
The embattled attorney general will return to one of her favorite haunts today, the Constitution Center in downtown Philly. But this time she will be firing the next shot in the increasingly prickly fight that has dominated her first term as the state's top laws enforcement officer.
Kane is expected to move what is being called 'Porn-gate' into new territory today, naming a team of special prosecutors who will be tasked with perusing state-owned computers looking for what she has dubbed 'racist, misogynistic, homophobic and religiously offensive' emails.
Kane believes it was the initial discovery of those emails, uncovered during her review of how her predecessor's office handled the Jerry Sandusky investigation, that has led to her current plight.
That would include facing charges in connection with leaking grand jury material and then allegedly trying to cover it up, as well as lying to a grand jury looking into the matter.
Instead, Kane has sought to shift the focus on the porn emails shared by a cabal of judges, prosecutors, lawyers and law enforcement personnel.
Kane's law license has been suspended, and a special Senate panel is looking into the question of whether she can - and should - continue to perform the duties of attorney general.
Today no doubt will be just the latest salacious chapter in this increasingly bizarre caper. And I would imagine there is no shortage of very nervous state employees these days.
I can see the movie now.
The Kane Scrutiny.
I'd put Sandra Bullock in the lead role.
