Are Eagles coming apart at the seams?

Maybe Chip Kelly and the Eagles should sign Jahlil Okafor. They look like they could use a little fight.

This Eagles squad is offering all the signs of a team coming apart at the seams.

Three straight, ugly losses to teams that were thought to be inferior.

Players questioning coaches, and each other.

Give safety Malcolm Jenkins credit for being honest. He spoke openly on his WIP Sports Radio appearance about his disagreement with the way Kelly and the coaching staff went about disciplining players. Jenkins specifically thought it might be helpful if players were called out in front of the entire squad, instead of just in their position meetings.

Kelly obviously disagreed. Jenkins huddled with defensive coordinator Billy Davis.

So is everyone now on the same page?

I kind of doubt it.

Now all the Eagles have to do is travel to New England and tangle with the Patriots, no doubt still licking their wounds from being dumped from the ranks of the unbeaten Monday night in Denver.

But the Pats may be just as banged up as the Eagles. Tight end Rob Gronkowski is not expected to play. For the Birds, quarterback Sam Bradford practiced yesterday and barring any other setback he should be behind center Sunday.

So can the Eagles stay with the Patriots.

Hey, this is the NFL. Weirder things have happened.

I can't get past the notion that the Eagles are still just one game out of first place. It is not outside the realm of possibilities that both the Giants and Redskins could lose this weekend. The Giants face their New Jersey rival, the Jets. And the Redskins have an NFC matchup with the Cowboys.

I don't expect the Eagles to win. But I do expect them to put out a better effort than they have the past few weeks.

A failure to do so will only further fray the seams on what is already a season in tatters.
