Eagles tied for 1st place: Thanks, DeSean

Yesterday in this space I blogged that Eagles fans had their Christmas wish fulfilled with a most unlikely win over almighty Patriots. Apparently the NFL gods are not done granting our wishes.

Last night DeSean Jackson fumbled late in the game, opening the door to a Cowboys' win over the Redskins in Monday Night Football. Yes, that means the Eagles are tied for first place in the NFC Least.

With games remaining against the Redskins and Giants, as well as this week's showdown with LeSean McCoy and the Bill, along with a very tough date with the Cardinals (which, by the way has been flexed to an 8:20 Sunday night game), the Eagles control their own destiny. Win and in.

I don't expect them to run the board at this point. I'm not even sure they beat the Bills in the McCoy-Kelly grudge match. But it sure beats watching the Sixers.

Jerry Colangelo, hired to oversee the front office, must have wondered what the hell he got himself into as the 76ers were embarrassed by the Spurs last night.

At this point, we'd better hope there are more Christmas miracles in store for Eagles fans. The rest of the Philly sports landscape is beyond bleak.
