The Eagles: Drama Guaranteed

It turns out Chip Kelly is human after all.

That fast-talking, seemingly emotionless automaton we see at so many press conferences dissolved yesterday as the Eagles coach once again was grilled over the topic of the week, the ugly exit of the team's all-time leading rusher, running back LeSean McCoy.

Kelly, showing a candid side rarely seen since he arrived here from Oregon, fell on his sword.

The coach basically said the team botched the McCoy trade in terms of being able to let their star back know he was being dealt. "I know he was pissed and he should be pissed," a contrite Kelly said. "How he was traded wasn't handled right, and I've said that before. I did not get an opportunity to talk to him, and it's a lesson that we shouldn't ever do that."

All of this stems from the return of McCoy with the Buffalo Bills to the Linc on Sunday with both teams clinging to playoff hopes.

Earlier this week, McCoy made it clear he had no intention of shaking Kelly's hands, and seemed to indicate Kelly knew why.

Yesterday, Kelly concurred.

Here's how our guy at the press conference, Rob Parent, saw it all.

McCoy is not even the only running back unhappy with Kelly. DeMarco Murray, signed for big money to fill the void left by McCoy's departure - but only after Frank Gore snubbed the Birds' offer - has made it clear he was not happy with the way he was used - or rather not used - in last Sunday's big win in New England.

Yesterday Murray seemed ready to put a happy face on everything, saying not only that has happy to be in Philly, but that he wanted to come back next year.

Those details here.

All of which only means more drama Sunday at the Linc.

Then again, this is the Eagles after all.

Remember, it's Drama Guaranteed
