A helluva week for Howie Roseman

Chip who?

Howie Roseman seems determined to rid the Eagles of all vestiges of the coach who banished him from his role as GM and personnel boss.

In a dizzying series of moves to kick off free agency, Roseman cut ties with several key Kelly acquisitions, while adding several pieces of the puzzle to fill some of the gaping holes on the Eagles roster.

Gone are DeMarco Murray, Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso.

Say hello to backup quarterback Chase Daniel, who comes over from the Chiefs, along with hard-hitting safety Rodney McLeod, who was a mainstay with the Rams. Guard Brandon Brooks was signed from the Oilers.

The day before Roseman added cornerback Leodis McKelvin from the Bills.

Maybe most important, in both of the trades, Roseman greatly increased the Eagles' position in the draft. They will move up from No. 13 to No. 8 in the first round, courtesy of the deal with the Dolphins. Then by shipping Murray to the Titans, they managed to move up 13 spots to the top of the fourth round.

Bob Grotz has all the details here.

I don't think Howie Roseman is ready for Canton, but you have to be impressed with what he accomplished this week.

A lot of people are questioning how much money he gave Daniel to be a backup, but with Bradford's injury history, it's a good insurance policy. I still think Bradford is the starter (no, I don't think he's being traded to the Broncos, even thought the Super Bowl champs now find themselves without a starting QB with the retirement of Peyton Manning and backup Brock Osweiler signing with the Texans.)

Roseman's big challenge now seems to be the draft.

There are still questions about bust picks such as Danny Watkins and Marcus Smith.

But the GM who was demoted by Chip Kelly has dramatically upgraded a roster that had been blown up by Kelly.
