Final chapter at St. Francis de Sales

They knew it was coming. It didn't make the news any easier.

In fact, the faithful at St. Francis de Sales had already beaten back one attempt to close their beloved grade school.

This time they weren't so lucky.

The archdiocese this weekend announced the school, which first opened its doors 121 years ago, would be shut down. They will close the doors for the last time at the end of the current school year in June.

Blame the usual suspects - declining enrollment and rising costs.
