1st black woman police chief in Delco takes helm tonight

There will be a little history made in Delaware County tonight.

And it will happen in Darby Township.

That's where Regina Price will be sworn in as the township's new top cop, in the process becoming the first black female police chief in the county and eastern part of the state.

Initially, it was believed Price, who comes to Delco after 30 years in police work in Florida, would be the first black woman to lead a police department in the state. But it now appears that Wilkinsburg, a town in western Pennsylvania, also has a black female police chief.

Price also will become Delco's first female top cop.

She will take the oath tonight at the township commissioners meeting.

We'll be there to bring you the story.
