The Wright Stuff: They shut down I-95?

Leave it to Philly guy Jay Wright to understand just how big the return of his national champion Villanova Wildcats was across the area. We called it 'Nova Elation! Wright had a bit more pragmatic view.

After landing at Philadelphia International Airport just after 5 p.m. Tuesday, they received a police escort back to the campus, and the huge celebration that awaited them in the football stadium.

"Geez, they shut down I-95," Wright said. "You know what that's like at 6 p.m.? I thought people were going to be mad."

Actually, people were pulling over to the side of the road and crowding overpasses to get a glimpse of the 'Cats buses - and offer a congratulatory salute or honk of the horn.

We have full coverage of the day's activities:

* Rick Kauffman was on campus early Tuesday and noticed the run on the bookstore.

* Bruce Adams was in the stadium for the welcome home celebration.

* Matt DeGeorge offers his take on the coolest coach around.

* And Matt also notes how this Villanova team was all about teamwork.

* Click here for a great photo gallery of the celebration.

And we're not done. Not by a longshot.

On Friday every print edition will have a special National Champions poster featuring the Wildcats, our way of getting you ready

for the big parade downtown. The parade will kick off at 1 p.m. at 20th and Market and go 5 blocks to Dilworth Park at City Hall. If you can't get to the parade, make sure you stay with DelcoTimes.com. We'll offer live coverage of the party.

Then on Sunday we'll deliver a special section looking back at the Wildcats championship season.
