Animal control issue not going away

The deal between Delaware County - through its Animal Protection Board - is over.

But the issue of animal control in Delco is not. The issue remains a pressing one, which every municipality in the county knows all too well.

That's because in effect the county, in allowing the deal with the Brandywine Valley SPCA out in Chester County to expire and dissolving the Animal Protection Board, is dumping this issue in their laps.

We take a look at the situation today on our editorial page.

It's hard to fault the county; this actually is the purview of the state. But the problem - stray animals on the streets of the county, remains here now.

What to do about it is now the problem of the municipalities.
