'Nova Nation goes to the White House

To the victor goes the spoils.

And the trip to the White House.

The pride of Delco boarded a bus on the Main Line yesterday and made the jaunt down I-95. 'Nova Nation invaded the nation's capital and set up shop at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

President Barack Obama entertained Jay Wright's national champion Villanova Wildcats Tuesday. He called Wright the 'George Clooney of college coaches." And, of course, he joined the long list of those who have butchered the name of Villanova point guard Ryan Arcidiacono.

We'll forgive him for that.

The only thing missing was the president taking the guys outside and doing a remake of the historic three-pointer buried by Kris Jenkins to lift the 'Cats over North Carolina in the national championship game.

I kind of expected to see Arcidiacono coming across the line at the court at the White House and dishing to Obama for the open jumper. Make sure you check out our complete coverage of the great day for the Wildcats. Terry Toohey made the trip to D.C. with the team and has a story and column in today's paper and on DelcoTimes.com.

It was the icing on the cake for Villanova's magical championship season.

Besides, it also took our minds off the fact that the Phillies lost their fifth straight game last night.

Obama called the Wildcats "a team for the ages."

And they hail from right here in Delaware County.
