We used our editorial page today to chime in on the flap that flared up when some a local Libertarian candidate and his supporter were told to stop soliciting signatures in the county's Rose Tree Park in Upper Providence.
Pat Sellers is trying to get on the ballot in the 7th District Congressional race.
He needs 3,000 signatures to do so.
But his efforts were not helped by this conflict with the county.
It comes down to basic First Amendment rights, and we'll stand with Sellers on this one.
While the matter seems to be resolved, Sellers points out that he is still working on the task of collecting those signatures. It would be a shame of missing those key dates at Rose Tree, which of course is host to the county's annual insanely popular - and FREE - Summer Festival means the difference between his getting on the ballot or not.
You can read our editorial here. And of course if you disagree feel free to write me a letter of you own. I'll be more than happy to share our op-ed page with you.
