Sam who?
Welcome to Wentzylvania.
Yes, it's the president of the Sam Bradford Fan Club here, and no, there is no truth to the rumor that we hold our meetings in a phone booth.
Having said that, yes, I was very impressed with the Eagles rookie QB.
I have not forgotten that I wrote last week. That is not always the case, believe me.
Once Howie Roseman and the Eagles pulled the trigger on that deal to send Bradford to the Vikings, I was on board that the Birds should stick Wentz in there and let him take his lumps.
I did not expect the performance we got Sunday.
Wentz was dazzling as he commanded the Eagles' offense, going 22 of 37 for 278 yards and two TDs. Both of his touchdown passes were perfect touch passes lobbed over the shoulder of receivers in the end zone where only his receiver could get to the ball.
Wentz showed a command and a presence that belied a guy who played part of one season at North Dakota State and one quarter of an NFL exhibition game.
Equally as impressive was the debut of that other rookie. That would be head coach Doug Pederson. The Eagles looked very well-coached, which as we all know has not always been the case in the past.
I would offer one word of caution. Actually two.
Cleveland Browns.
This was not the Monsters of the Midway. The Browns are a mess.
Having said that, it would have been all too much like so many Eagles teams in the past to play down to the level of their opponent. Instead, the Eagles dominated on both sides of the ball.
No one was more impressive than Wentz.
Whatever "it" is, Wentz has "it."
Now it's on to a national stage with a Monday night matchup vs. the Bears.
Somehow, I don't think Wentz is going to be intimidated one bit.
