Coffee with Ivanka

How important is Delco and the Philly suburbs in this presidential sweepstakes?

We're getting still another visit from a member of the Trump family today.

Ivanka Trump will be at the Drexelbrook in Drexel Hill at noon for an event tabbed "Coffee with Ivanka."

As you might expect, I'll be interested in her visit, but probably not for the reason you're thinking.

Her father certainly has his hands full. The real estate mogul and reality TV star is up to his neck in controversy over his comments on a decade-old video concerning how he treats women.

On the tape Trump boasts of being able to do whatever he wants with women because he's a star, and how he would simply "grab" their private parts.

I kind of doubt that this "locker room talk," as Trump described it, will dominate the conversation when his daughter arrives today.

Instead I will be most interested to see who else is there.

Donald Trump has not only divided much of the country, he's doing the same for the Republican Party.

U.S. Rep. Pat Meehan, R-7, actually called for Trump to get out of the race after the video landed Friday night. I wouldn't look for him to be there.

Likewise, I think Ivanka can cross Pat Toomey off the list of RSVPs. The incumbent senator continues to ride the fence over his support or non-support of the guy at the top of the ticket. And he continues to get beat over the head for it by his Democratic foe, Katie McGinty. The two are in a heated race that many continue to say is dead even, and which could be the key to control of the U.S. Senate.

Maybe Andy Reilly will show up. The county Republican Party leader blasted Trump for his comments in the video, but said he would still be voting for Trump as a way of keeping Hillary Clinton out of the White House.

We'll be there at the Drexelbrook to tell you who showed up - and who did not.
