Punxsutawney Pat? Toomey talks on teleconference

Don't call him 'Punxsutawney Pat.'

Our U.S. Senator says he has not been hiding out in his burrow, contrary to many media reports.

Republican Pat Toomey yesterday held a hastily called teleconference after fielding a barrage of criticism that he was unavailable and constituents were unable to get through to his office.

Toomey insists it was simply a matter of volume and staffing, that his office phones were swamped and staffers struggled to keep up. In the meantime, he said he wanted President Trump to take a harder line on Russian strongman Vladimir Putin, while standing behind some of the president's more controversial policies.
