This is becoming an eerie routine in Upper Darby

In Upper Darby, they're getting used to the drill.

Actually, they never do, but they're getting lots of practice.

That is the irony of yesterday's train crash that left dozens injured, luckily none of them life-threatening.

Most of the time when we do these stories, it is with the caveat: THIS IS ONLY A DRILL.

But now, for the second time this year, it has been anything but.

But that is why they have these drills.

Under the direction of Upper Darby Police Capt. Tom Johnson, the emergency responders went into what they call a mass casualty response.

Now the question seems to be why is this happening.

The National Transportation Safety Board had a team on the scene poring over the wreckage Tuesday afternoon. U.S. Rep. Bob Brady is responding to a request from Upper Darby Mayor Tom Micozzie and will seek some quick answers.

"We need answers now," Brady said in a letter to NTSB Chairman Robert L. Sumwalt. "It's been six months since a train on SEPTA's Market Frankford Line derailed when it crashed into a stopped/stalled train. That investigation is still going on. Are we supposed to wait another six months to find out what led to this latest crash? We need answers now so the problems can be corrected and the riding public is safe."

We salute another great effort by all those first responders who took part in the efforts in the aftermath of another crash. And we fully support Micozzie and Brady in their efforts to get answers as to why these things keep happening at 69th Street.
