Two communities rally to help neighbors

'Tis the season.

I had the sentiment in mind when I penned today's editorial.

It demonstrates once again that when the chips are down, Delaware County always comes through.

We recently chronicled the efforts of two different communities in rallying behind two families that had basically suffered everything in recent fires.

In Upper Providence, their families, friends and community came to the aid of the Collins family after a fire roared through their home.

The same thing happened in Upper Chichester, where a former co-worker came to the rescue of a woman who was about at the end of her rope, about to be booted from the motel where she was staying with her kids after a fire.

With all the negative things that we need to report every day, it reaffirms the basic goodness in people.

Sometimes we tend to overlook that.
