Half a century later, America is struggling with the demons of the Vietnam War.
Tomorrow, Thursday March 29, Delaware County will join the nation in marking National Vietnam War Veterans Day.
But you'd be hard-pressed to find any activities marking the occasion.
We even asked some local Nam vets, who also seemed luke-warm to the idea.
One of the nation's most divisive wars continues to fester 50 years later.
They say time heals all wounds. Fifty years have gone by, and the scars - both physical and emotional - exacted by the Vietnam War continue to linger.
Perhaps we could use this day as an opportunity to further that healing process.
Maybe it's time to simply say something that too often was not said all those years ago.
Too often instead of being greeted warmly, returning veterans from Vietnam instead were disrespected.
Maybe it's time simply say, thank you for your service.
It's on our editorial page.
