This is not a belated April Fool's joke.
It is snowing out. Hard.
For now the roads remain for the most part just wet. But expect an accumulation on grassy surfaces.
On April 2. Isn't this the time we're supposed to expect April showers? I don't remember anything about snow showers.
Flakes started falling just after 5 a.m. after a 10-digit drop in temperatures turned an overnight rain into fat, wet snowflakes.
The snow is expected to continue through the morning hours, making a mess out of the post-holiday Monday morning commute.
The National Weather Service says 1 to 3 inches of snow could fall on the Philadelphia area, with of course the standard warnings of ore to the north and west.
Here's the forecast for the rest of the day:
Overnight: Rain. Low around 34. Northeast wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Monday: Rain and snow before 11 a.m., then a slight chance of rain between 11 a.m. and noon. High near 47. Northeast wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Monday Night: A chance of rain, mainly after 5 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
