Eflin has a June to remember

Aaron Nola takes the hill tonight as the Phillies kick off a series vs. the Washington Nationals at Citizens Bank Park. He is the acknowledged Phillies ace.

But he might not have had the best June.

That likely belongs to Zach Eflin, who tamed the fearsome bats of the Yankees, shutting them down over 7 innings Wednesday night. Eflin got all the support he needed in a 3-run home from Rhys Hoskins as the Phils managed to eek out one win in the series vs. the Yankees.

Eflin was lights out, completing a sparkling June. He gave up just four hits and no runs. Eflin, acquired in the trade that sent Jimmy Rollins to the Dodgers back in 2014, won all five of his starts in June. It also was the fourth time this month that he won a game following a Phils' loss.

You can get all the details here.

In the meantime, everyone is talking about the fact that the Bank was packed for three nights. Unfortunately, it seemed like about half of those in the seats had just driven down I-95 from the Big Apple. Yankees fans travel almost as well as Philly fans.

Columnist Jack McCaffery has some thoughts on the Phils' attendance woes - on nights other than when the Bombers are in town.

In other words, looks to attendance to go off a cliff tonight when the Nationals come to town. Those D.C. folks aren't likely to make the hike up I-95 to support the Nats.
