Our Lady of Angels rises from the ashes

Our Lady of Angels is rising from the ashes.

After a devastating fire destroyed much of the school - including most of the classrooms - last week, the parish community and others have rallied to the school's side.

Classes will start on time in space being utilized at Cardinal O'Hara High School in Springfield.

A GoFundMe account to raise funds for supplies for teacher to replace items lost in the fire has already hit $30,000.

You can read about it here.

But this is about much more than money. This is about the power of faith, and community.

It's on today's editorial page.

In the meantime, Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish will hold a special prayer service tonight asking for the intercession of the Blessed Mother.

The prayer service will be led by Bishop John J. McIntyre, the Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia who oversees the Delaware and Chester County regions of the Archdiocese. School and parish families as well as the surrounding community have been invited to take part in this prayer service. All are welcome.

The service will be held at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 2130 Franklin Avenue, Morton.
