Ramos arrives with a bang for Phillies

It's been the same refrain all summer.

The Phillies need another bat in their lineup.

Meet Wilson Ramos.

The catcher the Phils acquired in a trade-deadline deal with Tampa Bay made his Philly debut Wednesday night after spending a month on the disabled list with a strained hamstring.

Ramos, a two-time All-Star, more than lived up to his billing by spanking three extra-base hits, including two doubles and a triple, in powering the Phils over the best team in baseball, the Boston Red Sox.

The Phils more than held their own in the short, two-game set. They lost a pitcher's duel Tuesday night, and recovered from a 3-0 hole and a very short effort from starter Vince Velasquez to beat the Bosox last night. Manager Gabe Kapler went through seven relievers after lifting Velasquez in the third inning.

The win allows the Phils to stay withing two games of the Braves in the NL East.

It also was nice to see a lot fewer empty seats at Citizens Bank Park. After a disappointing 33,000 were on hand to see the best team in baseball, there were more than 35,000 in the house last night.

Speaking of Boston, the two cities face off again tonight in a rematch of the Super Bowl. Yes, the Eagles head to New England to face the Patriots in the second preseason affair.

What kind of reception do you think Nick Foles gets?
