The pope speaks on priest sex abuse

We've now heard from Pope Francis on the latest horrors connected to the church and the abuse of children.

In the wake of last week's horrific grand jury report that identified more than 300 priests in six Pennsylvania archdioceses who had abused more than 1,000 children, the pontiff this morning issued a letter to Catholics around the world.

Thankfully, the pope did not mince words.

He condemned the "crime" of priest sexual abuse.

And he spoke directly to what happened and how church leaders acted.

"We showed no care for the little ones; we abandoned them,," the pope said in the letter.

On Sunday's editorial page, we again visited what happened in Pennsylvania and suggest it's time for the Legislature to take action.
