Forget the 'Philly Special.'
Doug Pederson already has called his first gadget play of the year.
This one was a reverse.
Less than 24 hours after blowing a gasket and taking the media to task for a report indicating that Nick Foles would be the Eagles starter Thursday night, Pederson reappeared Monday and announced ... Nick Foles would be the Eagles starter vs. the Falcons.
I wrote yesterday about this odd reaction by the Birds' head coach to the single story that has dominated Eagles coverage all summer.
I keep going back to how seemingly out of character Monday's outburst was for Pederson. And it got me to thinking about why?
Was the Super Bowl coach now a bit full of himself?
Was he just tired of dealing with the issue?
Was he ticked that someone in the Eagles organization leaked the story to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport?
Was he worried that is might show NFL Network knows more about the inner workings of the team than Pederson does?
About the only think missing Monday was for Doug to blast the media as "fake news" and the "enemy of the people."
I wrote about it in yesterday's Heron's Nest.
