A nation divided

I used my Monday print Letter From the Editor to expand on an item I wrote here in the blog last week.

It has to do with the contentious hearing Thursday at which Christine Blasey Ford testified that she was assaulted in high school by Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

And also the judge's blistering defense of his reputation, denying he has ever assaulted anyone, while being careful not to doubt that something very well may have happened to Ford. Only that he was not involved.

The hearing painted a picture of America in 2018.

I can sum it up in one word: Divided.

With the midterm elections a few weeks off, I don't see that changing anytime soon.

You can read the column here.

Feel free to disagree.
