Deja vu at the mall

I can still remember the staccato message that blurted out from the police monitor that sat over the news desk.

"Shooting at the Springfield Mall."

That was 33 years ago.

I'm still here.

So is the mall.

And so is Barbara Heflin.

The Broomall woman was at the mall on that fateful Halloween Eve afternoon in 1985 when a mentally ill Sylvia Seegrist opened fire in the parking lot, then entered the mall and kept shooting.

Three people were killed. Seven others were wounded before several shoppers overpowered Seegrist.

Incredibly, Heflin was back at the mall Saturday when a fistfight between several groups spilled out into the parking lot - where gunfire erupted.

This time no one was injured.

We talked to Heflin about her experience.
