Parking is a big deal at 69th Street

Here's some breaking news. There are stories in Upper Darby that don't include Police Superintendent Mike Chitwood.

Don't get me wrong. We love Mike. He's a journalist's best friend. We wish there more police chiefs like him around.

But this week we were in Upper Darby to cover a very big story.

It involved the 69th Street Terminal and a problem that has plagued this critical link in the region's mass transit system. That would be a chronic lack of parking.

That is going to be remedied with the announcement of plans for a 450-space parking garage.

But as Mayor Tom Micozzie knows, it will mean much than that for the rapidly improving conditions of the 69th Street Business District.

We talk about it on today's editorial page.
