Hey, I got the 26 part right.
Last week I figured the Eagles to put up 26 points vs. the Titans. Well, they came up 3 points short.
It was the Titans with 26, while the Birds put up only 23 in an ugly overtime loss that saw the Eagles take the lead in OT with a field goal, then watch the Titans amazingly convert a series of 4th downs to score the TD and snag the win.
It gets uglier - at least for me.
That keeps my 2018 prognosticating perfect - a perfect 0-4 that is.
This week it's the Vikings in town. They've been struggling almost as bad as the Birds. Both these teams desperately need this game to right the ship.
Neither one of them much resemble the two teams that clashed in the NFC title game last year. The Vikings will have revenge on their mind after they got thrashed 38-7 on this very same Lincoln Financial Field, then had to watch the Eagles arrive in Minnesota to play in the Super Bowl.
The Eagles are sitting at a solidly mediocre 2-2, while the Vikes are even worse at 1-2-1.
There will be a familiar face at QB for the Vikings, with Kirk Cousins no stranger to the Birds after all those years with the Redskins.
Vikings' offensive coordinator John DeFilippo also might have a bit of an advantage. He was the Eagles' QB coach last year.
Both teams are still looking for the dominating defenses that powered last year's success. The edge here will go to the Birds. For some reason this defense plays much better at home than they do on the road. They should be able to harass Cousins into just enough mistakes to escape with the win.
But the Eagles must play better in the defensive secondary. The Vikings have weapons on the outside and no doubt will be looking for contine Jalen Mills' misery so far this season.
It's way too early to be talking about a "must" win, but neither team wants to fall any farther behind.
I think the home field advantage tilts this one to the Eagles.
THE PICK: Make it Eagles 24, Vikings 13. Wentz will continue to round into form. Good thing, because the Eagles will continue to be limited at running back. Alshon Jeffery had a great week in his return to the lineup last week. He'll need a repeat for the Birds to get the win.
LAST WEEK: This is getting embarrassing. I'm a perfect 0-4 so far on this season. The OT win by the Titans left staring up from a huge hole. And it left the Eagles a mediocre 2-2.
GAME BY GAME: Eagles 18, Falcons 12. (My Pick: Falcons 27, Eagles 13)
Buccaneers 27, Eagles 21 (My Pick: Eagles 23, Buccaneers 13)
Eagles 20, Colts 16 (My Pick: Colts 23, Eagles 17)
Titans 26, Eagles 23 in OT (My Pick: Eagles 26, Titans 13)
