Fight for justice for Alexander McClay Williams goes on

The final resting place of Alexander McClay Williams now has a fitting marker.

His family and friends saw to that Saturday when they placed a stone marker on his grave at Green Lawn Cemetery in Chester Township.

But the fight for justice - and to clear his name - goes on.

Who was Alexander McClay Williams? He was the youngest person ever put to death in the state of Pennsylvania.

Williams was executed in the electric chair when he was just 16 years old.

It took just one year for Williams to be charged, tried, convicted and put to death.

A push by local educator and author Sam Lemon has cast serious doubt on the case that sent Williams to death row for the brutal stabbing death of a matron at Glen Mills School.

Lemon, along with Delaware County attorney Robert Keller, has been successful in getting Williams' record expunged.

But they want more.

They want the teen's conviction vacated.

In essence, they want justice.

It's on today's editorial page.
