Saints didn't help the Eagles

The Eagles path to the playoffs just got a little steeper.

Raise your hand if you saw the Cowboys shutting down Drew Brees and the Saints last night.

A tip of the hat to our Eagles beat writer Bob Grotz, who was in the office yesterday afternoon and informed the editor that the Cowboys would beat New Orleans.

"The Saints are due for a letdown," he told me. He was on the money.

Brees and the Saints were held to just 10 points. That's what they usually put up in their first two drives.

Anyone remember that demolition the Saints put on the Eagles a couple of weeks ago?

That team was nowhere in sight last night. The Saints managed just 176 yards in total offense.

It means the Eagles are now a game and a half behind the 'Boys. Even if they beat the Redskins in a Monday night matchup at the Linc, they will still trail Dallas.

That means the Eagles must beat Washington, setting up a huge match against the Cowboys in Big D the following week.
