The Dreaded Saturday Eagles Pick

The vaunted NFC East once again has sunk to NFC Least levels.

Does anyone want to win this division?

Don't look now, but the best team in the NFC East right now just might be the Dallas Cowboys. They beat the first-place Redskins on Thanksgiving and appear to be rounding into form behind the running of Ezekiel Elliott and the game-changing Amari Cooper at wideout.

Meanwhile, Eagles' fans are still trying to digest that turkey of an effort last Sunday by the Birds in New Orleans.

It was never a contest as the Saints did pretty much anything they wanted to rolling to a blowout 48-7 win.

Now the Eagles' season is on the line Sunday at the Linc against the Giants, who also appear to be playing better than their putrid start.

The formula for this one is pretty simple. It's the same as every game against the Giants. Put pressure on Eli Manning and wait for him to make a few crucial mistakes.

But the Eagles have not been putting pressure on anyone. Just ask Drew Brees, who could have had a sandwich most snaps while waiting for his receivers to get open.

Plus the Giants have perhaps one of the NFL's best new weapons in running back Saquon Barkley. The Penn Stater seems to get better each week.

On offense, the Eagles aren't scaring anyone. Carson Wentz is coming off one of the worst performances of his career. While the Cowboys wasted no time featuring Cooper, the Eagles cannot say the same for their new wideout Golden Tate.

The Birds' running back by committee looks like it is running in sand.

If the Eagles are going to salvage this season, it likely will have to be on the back of Wentz. So far the young QB has yet to have that signature comeback or key performance in a big game.

This is not an especially big game, but the Birds' chance of defending their title probably are on the line.

Look for Wentz to get the job done, courtesy of a key turnover by Manning.

THE PICK: Make it Eagles 23, Giants 17. Don't blame me if the Birds don't pull this one off. Although, if they don't you can pretty much pull the plug on any hopes of defending that Super Bowl title.

LAST WEEK: This was about as bad as it gets. The Eagles were embarrassed in New Orleans. Drew Brees was just toying with the Birds and Saints coach Sean Payton decided to rub their noses in it at the end. The reaction by the Eagles? This looked like a team that is cooked. It will be interesting to see if they are able to come back this week. The loss dropped the Eagles to 4-6, with another loss possibly killing off any chance they have of making the playoffs. Taking the easy pick with the Saints raised by mark on this ugly season to 3-7.
