Here's what needs to happen for the Eagles to make the playoffs

Does St. Nick have one more Christmas miracle in him?

We're going to have to wait a few more hours to find out.

The NFL has moved next Sunday's finale vs. the Redskins in Washington to a 4:30 p.m. late afternoon start.

At this point the Eagles' path the playoffs is pretty simple: They must beat the Redskins and the Vikings must lose to the Bears. Andy Reid and the Chiefs didn't do us any favors last night. The Seahawks beat the Chiefs, thus stamping their ticket to the playoffs. Two losses by the Seahawks would have opened up another avenue for the Birds to qualify for the postseason.

Now it all comes down to two games.

Eagles vs. Redskins.

Vikings vs. Bears.

The Eagles must win and the Vikings must lose.

And the games will be played at the same time, the late Sunday afternoon game.

There is one other game that sort of plays into this. The Rams play the 49ers. A Bears win and a loss by the Rams would give Chicago a first-round bye.

In the meantime, what can you say about the Eagles game yesterday.

It had everything - another miracle from St. Nick Foles, who threw for 471 yards and four TDs.

A record-setting day for Zach Ertz, who broke the NFL single-season record for catches by a tight end.

Of course it had the requisite blown calls by the refs, including an incredulous facemask call with a Texan blatantly grabbing Foles' facemask and nothing being called.

There were missed extra points.

Failed two-point conversions.

A brutal hit on Foles that left him writing in pain on the ground.

He goes out for one play and then jogs back on the field to a standing ovation.

A Christmas miracle, if you will.

Or maybe the perfect Christmas gift for Eagles fans.

Now there will be one more late Sunday afternoon bit of drama.
