RIP to 'Mr. Tinicum'

They say things happen in threes. That certainly appears to be the case when it comes to the passing of three dominant figures in Delco municipal government and politics.

Yes, another icon has fallen.

Delaware County is reeling from still another huge figure in local government passing away.

First it was Frank Kelly, known to everyone as "Mr. Collingdale."

Then we were stunned by the death of Rocco Gaspari Sr. in Lower Chichester.

Now it's Tinicum's turn.

Tom Giancristoforo Jr. was all about Tinicum. He served on the commissioners for decades, including the last dozen as president.

I met Giancristoforo several times as he led the charge for township residents over the years in their struggles with their noisy - and expanding - neighbor. That would be Philadelphia International Airport.

Yes, Tom could also be called "Mr. Tinicum."

RIP to another Delco icon.
