Throwing a little gas on the Mariner East 2 bonfire

The Great Mariner East 2 debate has swerved in a whole new direction.

That's because while a community group has done a risk analysis, and Delaware County has chimed in with one of their own, Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan has now chimed in with something of a "risk analysis" of his own.

And it's a blockbuster.

The D.A. put Sunoco and Energy Transfer Partners on notice that he is opening a criminal investigation into the construction of the controversial pipeline project.

And in the process he also lobbed a few mortar shells at Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf and the state Public Utility Commission.

Hogan left little doubt of his belief that the state had failed residents when it comes to insuring their safety.

It didn't take long for Sunoco, Wolf and the PUC to fire back.

The Battle of Mariner East 2 just went into overdrive.

We talk about it on today's editorial page.
