'The Goldbergs' do Delco

Some days in this job, you just get to have fun.

Take today's front page, for instance.

I have to admit, when I was first contracted by PR man extraordinaire Ike Richman about the prospect of 'The Goldbergs' popular TV show doing a Delco-centric show, I was intrigued.

'The Goldbergs' is the ABC sitcom about the experiences of a family in the Philadelphia suburbs in the '80s.

But the deal was sealed when I learned about the plot for Wednesday night's show.

It's titled 'The Bachelor Party' and it takes place at none other than the legendary Delco nightspot Pulsations.

Pulsations was once described by Rolling Stone magazine as "the monster dance club that brought Studio 54 vibes to West Philadelphia."

Only it wasn't in West Philly.

It was on Baltimore Pike out in Concord Township, in a place that once housed the Legendary Longhorn Ranch restaurant, where the employees all dressed up as cowboys and cowgirls.

It had 10 floors, a spectacular light show and a dancing robot called Pulsar that came out of a spaceship that descended onto the dance floor.

At the height of the disco era, it was THE place to be and be seen in Delco.

And now it's being memorialized in an episode of 'The Goldbergs.'

And on the front of today's Daily Times.
