Here is your word for the weekend:
Scoreboard watching.
Get used to hearing it. And get used to doing late Sunday afternoon.v
That's because in order to make the playoffs, the Eagles need to win and get some help.
First, the Birds need to take care of business, and beat the Redskins when they visit D.C.
But that's not enough. The Eagles also will need some help, specifically they need the Bears to beat the Vikings. If the Eagles win and the Vikings win, the Vikes go to the playoffs and the Eagles stay home, denied a chance to defend their Super Bowl title.
Complicating matters is the fact that both games are being played at the same time. They are both late Sunday 4:20 starts.
No doubt we're talking multiple screens here, along with some serious Twitter watching.
I certainly think Nick Foles and the Eagles are going to take care of business on their end, handling the Redskins.
I'm less sure about the Bears. They actually do have something to play for, especially if the Rams lose to the 49ers. That would give the Bears a higher playoff seed. But again, that game also is being played at the same time.
Here's the real problem with the Bears. Basically they get to choose their playoff opponent. It will either be a rematch with the Vikings, or a game against the red-hot Eagles.
Which team do you think they would rather play?
I know, not good.
