Newspaper people are not normally known for our sense of "style."
Our reputation precedes us. We don't make a lot of "best-dressed" lists. In short, a lot of us are slobs.
We're also wordsmiths. We know that words mean different things to different people.
Take "style," for instance.
To newspaper people, it means something entirely different than it does to most people.
Style is our Bible.
Today, in my weekly Letter From the Editor, I pay homage to a man of "style."
His name was Bob Tennant. Bob was a stickler for style.
We lost Bob last week.
The industry is losing its sense of "style."
I think there's a lesson there.
