Ya Gotta Believe: The Eagles are going to the playoffs

This is why nothing competes with the NFL.

It was just a few weeks ago that the Eagles were dead in the water, licking their wounds after getting drubbed, 48-7, by the Saints.

This morning Eagles Nation is preparing for a first-round playoff game next Sunday in the late game at Chicago. Happy New Year!

Jolly Old St. Nick - otherwise known as Nick Foles - did what many thought was not possible.

Again.

Subbing once again for an injured starter Carson Wentz, Foles led the Birds to three straight wins -and they still needed help to get into the playoffs.

That came in the form of an incredible loss by the Vikings at home to the Bears.

Last week Foles set a team record for passing yards in a game when he lit up the Texans for 471 yards.

Yesterday he tied the NFL record for successive completions with 25 in a row.

How unlikely was all this?

Consider the following:

Legions of full-throated Eagles zealots spent several hours yesterday cheering for the Chicago Bears. That reached a zenith when Kirk Cousins and the Vikings came up small and lost. With that shutout win over the Redskins and the Bears win, the Birds are back in the playoffs.

Thanks, Chicago.

Now you're Enemy No. 1.

That's right. The Eagles will be in Chicago next week to start the playoffs. So much for rotting for "Da Bears."

And where did that magical Bears' win take place? Why that would be in the very same place where the Eagles won their Super Bowl last February in Minnesota.

Ya gotta believe.
