2 men with deep ties to Chester

Today we mark the lives of two great men - both of whom have deep ties to the city of Chester.

First we once again note the national holiday that marks the spirit of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

In his honor, today on our editorial page we run the complete text of his famous "I Have a Dream Speech." Even after all these years, it still give me chills every time I read it.

And in my weekly Letter From the Editor today, we note the centennial of the inauguration of William Sproul, the only Delaware County resident ever elected governor of Pennsylvania.

Sproul was sworn in 100 years ago today.

You can find a feature on Sproul here.

King attended Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester.

Sproul was a newspaperman who headed the predecessor of this newspaper before he went into politics.
