I gained a lot of respect for Alshon Jeffery and the way he handled his misfortune at the end of that Eagles playoff game vs. the Saints last Sunday in New Orleans.
You might remember that the Eagles were driving for what could have been a game-winning field goal when Nick Foles hit a wide open Jeffery right in the hands with a pass.
That's when heartbreak hit.
The ball went right through the hands of the usually sure-handed wide receiver. Then it got worse. The ball caromed right into the hands of a Saints defensive back.
Game over.
Season over.
Jeffery remained face down on the turf after the throw. Several Eagles came over to console him.
After the game, Jeffery did not duck the cameras, or the inevitable questions. He seized the moment, and said the loss was "on him."
A young West Chester girl decided to try to make Jeffery feel better by writing him a letter to boost his spirits. We told that story earlier this week.
Yesterday, the story - and Jeffery - got even better. Jeffery decided to repay the favor to young Abigail Johnson and her classmates at Sarah Starkweather Elementary School.
The star wide receiver paid a visit to the young girl's classroom, much to the delight of her classmates.
Pure class, Alshon.
Pure class.
