A friendly face visits the office

At some point just about every day, one of the women who works in our Classified department at the front entrance to our building approaches my desk and says, "You have a visitor."

I always kind of wince.

This is usually not good news.

People who visit newspaper offices usually are not there to sing your praises. Often they want to dispute something that has been printed about them or one of their loved ones - usually in pretty colorful language.

That wasn't a concern yesterday.

Dave Burman was paying a visit.

If you are at all connected with sports in this region, you know the name Dave Burman.

If the name sounds familiar, it should.

Yes, that was Dave's dad that ran the legendary Chester pharmacy for decades.

Dave's a sports nut, and spends a lot of this time these days still doing something he loves, and something he's been doing for decades.

He's a public address announcer for high school sports. He is a constant presence at Chester Clipper hoops games. And he's the P.A. announce for Octoraro and Coatesville High School football games.

We interact a lot on social media, but we got a chance to meet face to face yesterday.

Don't be a stranger, Dave.
