I come in praise of a Dallas Cowboy

Here's something you won't often hear me doing.

No, it's not admitting the pages of the Daily Times are horribly biased and feature a consistent liberal bent. Sorry, I know many of you are dying for just such an admission.

Here's something even rarer.

Today I come to sing the praises of a Dallas Cowboy.

OK, a former Dallas Cowboy.

I was never much of a Tony Romo fan.

At least from his days as a quarterback.

He always seemed to suffer a critical turnover at crunch time.

But the guy is solid gold in the broadcast booth.

He fulfills the No. 1 requirement of a color analyst: He adds to your enjoyment of the game.

Anyone who watched that Patriots-Chiefs AFC title game Sunday night was witness to that.

Listening to Romo analyze the Patriots' formations and then accurately predict what Bill Belichick and Tom Brady were going to do - even to the point of Brady killing out a play call and audibling at the line of scrimmage - was just uncanny.

Luckily, we have one more game with Romo and Jim Nantz.

They will be doing this year's Super Bowl.

Unless the Rams hire him to run their defense against the Patriots in the meantime.
